The event takes place on 16th Jan and features the ice Pokémon Spheal, along with a couple of in-game bonuses and a novel Special Research story. When is January’s Community Day?
The January Pokémon Go’s Community Day takes place on 16th January Sunday. This special event will run for six hours, starting from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time.
January’s featured Pokémon: Spheal
Spheal is the new star Pokémon of the January Community Day, this is an ice-type seal Pokémon. Through the event, Spheal will spawn in the wild more frequently than normal days, and you will have more opportunities to encounter a Shiny Spheal.
Community Day bundle and Research
As we all know, there will be a fresh paid special research story to overlap with January’s Community Day. The Research story is called the Spheal Deal which costs $1 to access. A distinct and special Community Day bundle will also be on sale in Pokémon Go’s item shop. The bundle costs around 1,280 PokeCoins and contains the following rewards.

January Community Day moves
If you are capable enough to power up Spheal’s advanced form, Sealeo, into Walrein on the day of the event, then it will acquire two event-exclusive moves upon growing: the Fast Attack Powder Snow and the Charged Attack Icicle Spear. You will have until 7 p.m. local time which is almost two hours after Community Day ends to evolve Sealeo and learn these special attacks.
Community Day bonuses
On top of increased Spheal spawns, a few other in-game bonuses will be lively during January’s Community Day. First, you will receive triple the normal amount of XP when you clasp Pokémon throughout the event. During the event, furthermore, any Lure Modules and Incenses that you use will last for three hours.
