OSRS Cooking Guide: Your guide to train cooking in OSRS

Welcome to our OSRS cooking Guide! Cooking is one of the fastest 99’s in the game. It is also the most common untrimmed skillcape in the game. In this guide we are going to explore how to train cooking by using the fastest methods possible so you can level up quickly.

Cooking is one of the lowest effort endeavors in the game and an easy way to reach 99. Therefore, most players decide to max this skill out as their first one. When training the cooking skill, the first thing to remember is that the Grand Exchange prices of items will fluctuate, so it is advised to check the prices before buying and selling supplies in large quantities as you are going to need to often. Visit Chicks Gold to get awesome deals, and now, let us walk through the best methods at each stage in the game.

Levels 1-30

Poison Karambwan is the fastest way to gain experience from levels 1-30. The fastest method is by 1-tick cooking raw karambwan into poison karambwan. You can cook Karambwan without tick delay by holding down 1 and rapidly using raw karambwan on a range or fire. This method costs a lot of Gold, so when you run out you can buy gold at Chcks Gold. Using this method you can reach level 30 in under 10 minutes, and fortunately, cooking poison karambwan does not have any requirements, unlike cooked karambwan. Once you have successfully cooked 168 Poison Karambwan you will reach level 30. It is advisable to buy at least 500 raw Karambwan as the burn rate is higher at lower levels. If you prefer not to use tick manipulation, there is another method you can use involving fish.

A different method you could use is cooking various types of fish to gain early experience. This is not as fast as cooking poison karambwan, but it is a lot cheaper and less click-intensive. The types of fish you can cook are:

  • Sardine at 40XP
  • Herring at 50XP
  • Mackerel at 60XP
  • Trout at 70XP
  • Pike at 80XP
  • Salmon at 90XP

It would be a good idea to buy roughly 2.5 times more raw fish than the amount of successfully cooked fish needed, as the burn rate is fairly high at lower levels.

Once you reach level 10, there is one last advisable method for the early game. This is baking pies using the Bake Pie spell. It is relatively quick and low–effort. It also offers a decent amount of passive Magic experience, which can be useful for some players. This method can be very expensive though, due to the low supply in uncooked pies. Compared to cooking pies on a range, the Bake Pie spell is cast at a rate of once per 3 ticks instead of the usual 4 ticks, yielding 1/4 faster cooking speeds. An inventory of 27 pies takes 81 ticks which is about 50 seconds to cook. Additionally, the pies never get burnt. There are many types of pies you can bake, some include:

  • Redberry
  • Meat
  • Mud
  • Apple
  • Garden
  • Fish and
  • Mushroom pies.

Levels 30-99

Making jugs of wine can offer very fast experience gains late game. It is relatively cheap depending on grand exchange prices too, although it does require more effort and attention than baking pies or cooking Karambwan. Jugs of wine are made by combining grapes with jugs of wine in order to make unfermented wine, which will ferment in 12 seconds. Wines ferment in the bank, so you will not have to wait for them to ferment in the inventory. The 12-second timer resets each time you make a new jug of unfermented wine, whether banked or in the inventory, which means a large stack of wine in the bank can ferment all at once. Each jug of wine you successfully make will grant you 200 experience. Grapes are added to jugs of water at a rate of once per 2 ticks, which is double the rate most items are cooked on a range or fire. This is why, combined with the high amount of experience you get with each jug of wine, making jugs levels you up so quickly.
