With the holiday season now decisively in the earlier, Niantic is stirring onward with its following chapter in the Season of Heritage campaign. The next season appears to be concentrating on the Steel and Rock types Pokémon according to the up-to-date blog post on the Pokémon GO official website.
The theme for the Season of Heritage has Team Mystic Leader Spark at the lead, as he is led to trust that the key to resolving the enigmatic gate’s second mechanism needs Steel and Rock Type Pokémon. The revealing of the door’s first Mechanism gave players the Dragonspiral Descent event and the debut of Druddigon. This novel in-game action has been called the “Mountains of Power.”

Mountains of Power event schedule and Time Table
The “Mountains of Power” event will start on Friday, January 7th at 10 AM local time and finish on Thursday, 13th January at 8 PM local time. The Pokémon that will spawn more often during this event will be:
- Zubat
- Geodude
- Slugma
- Barboach
- Machop
Rarer Pokémon like Onix and Ferroseed will have increased spawn rates during the event. The shiny variants Pokémon for all of the before declared Pokémon will also be accessible for fortunate trainers.
- Along with the increased spawns for the Pokémon listed above, there will be extra enticements during the event.
- Buddy Pokémon will achieve hearts in half the distance needed.
- No doubt it’s good for trainers still looking to cut into the necessities to grow Sylveon or any other Pokémon that needs bonding to evolve.
- Special Time Research tasks will also be provided from PokeStops during the event.
- Some Research Task Rewards will have Mawile and Beldum as rewards and a chance to privilege their shinies.
- The Field Research Tasks will also have Alolan Geodude and Slugma and the chance to claim their shinies mixed in as well.
Shiny Slugma and Magcargo
This is the very first time ever, Trainers will be able to meet a shiny Slugma and evolve it into shiny Magcargo. Great League battlers, be on the lookout for an influx of shiny Magcargo!
Mountains of Power Event Bonuses
Mountains of Power event bonuses comprise the following:
- 1/2 walking distance to earn hearts with your buddy
- Mawile and Beldum in Timed Research tasks
- Shiny Slugma debuts in Pokémon GO
- Mega Aerodactyl debuts in Pokémon GO
- Heatran in Five-star raids
- Cave dwelling Pokémon in wild encounters
Pokémon GO Mountains of Power event Raids
When it comes to the Raids of Mountains of Power event, Alolan Geodude, Beldum, Bronzor, Onix, and their shinies will feature in 1-Star raids. Medicham, Absol, and its shiny, Ursuring, and Donphan will be in 3-Star Raids.
Heatran and the possibility of finding its shiny will be in 5-Star raids for the week of the event. Mega-Aerodactyl will also make its reappearance in the Mega-Raid eggs for the week.
All of the gifts seem fine for the event’s theme and more emphasis on the promotion Types for this event than the Druddigon event, outside of Zubat. Shiny Mawile, Absol, Beldum, and Nosepass are some community favorite shinies. If the Druddigon event was a forerunner of what could occur next, maybe there will be a new Pokémon exposed at the end of this event.
