Despite a non-COVID-19 sickness, the Baltimore Ravens are scheduled to start Tyler Huntley against the Cincinnati Bengals

According to a source, Tyler Huntley is expected to start against the Cincinnati Bengals after missing practice Friday due to a non-COVID-19 illness.

Lamar Jackson hasn’t practiced in two weeks due to a right ankle injury. Thus Huntley would step in. The Ravens have labeled Huntley and Jackson as questionable.

  • On Sunday, Huntley will start for the third time in his career in Cincinnati, where the Ravens (8-6) and Bengals (8-6) are vying for first place in the AFC North.
  • In the Ravens‘ 31-30 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Huntley became the first player in franchise history to record multiple touchdowns throws, and touchdown runs in the same game.
  • Jackson has been out since Dec. 12, when he suffered a right ankle injury early in the second quarter of Cleveland’s 24-22 loss.
  • The Ravens have lost their last three games and are seeking to avoid becoming the first team since 2015 to be swept by the Bengals.
  • Fields suffered an ankle injury in Monday’s 17-9 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
  • Foles has yet to play this season after being acquired by the Bears last season as a backup for former starter Mitch Trubisky.
  • The Bears’ only other quarterback is Ryan Willis, a rookie added to the practice squad on Dec. 18.

On Sunday, Huntley will start for the third time in his career in Cincinnati, where the Ravens (8-6) and Bengals (8-6) are vying for first place in the AFC North. With a win, Baltimore has a 67 percent probability of winning the AFC North, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index. The Ravens’ odds of winning the division plummet to 8.5 percent if they lose against the Bengals.

In Jackson’s absence, Huntley, who went undrafted out of Utah in 2020, has done impressively. In the Ravens’ 31-30 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Huntley became the first player in franchise history to record multiple touchdown throws and touchdown runs in the same game. Only Patrick Mahomes, Kyler Murray, Josh Allen, and Aaron Rodgers have more total yards than Huntley in the last two weeks.

The quarterback situation in Baltimore has suddenly become depleted. Johnson was the only quarterback practicing on Friday since Huntley was sick, Jackson was injured, and practice squad QB Chris Streveler was on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Jackson has been out since Dec. 12, when he suffered a right ankle injury early in the second quarter of Cleveland’s 24-22 loss. This is the first time in Jackson’s four-year NFL career that he has missed consecutive games.

The Chicago Bears will start Nick Foles at quarterback against the Seattle Seahawks due to injuries:

According to coach Matt Nagy, the Chicago Bears will start veteran quarterback Nick Foles against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday because of injuries to starter Justin Fields and backup Andy Dalton.

Fields suffered an ankle injury in Monday’s 17-9 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Since returning from the COVID-19 list this week, Dalton has been suffering from a groin ailment.

Foles, who was acquired by the Bears last season as a replacement for former starter Mitch Trubisky, is yet to play. Fields played in Monday’s game and took part in a limited practice on Wednesday, but he did not practice on Thursday or Friday.

Nagy said the injury hasn’t grown any worse, but the team is trying to figure out “where the pain threshold is” and that Fields may be Foles’ backup on Sunday. Ryan Willis, a rookie they signed to the practice squad on Dec. 18, is the Bears’ only other quarterback.

“We have to strike a balance between where we are now and what Ryan can achieve now that he’s here,” Nagy said. “He’s studying the playbook and figuring out what to do. It’d be more of an emergency, and all we have to do now is assess where Justin is in terms of percentages and whether or not he can help us without jeopardizing his health. If that’s not the greatest option, believe me when I say that we’ll go with Ryan.”

Fields, the Bears’ first-round pick last spring, has missed two games this season due to cracked ribs. In 12 games this season, he has completed 58.9% of his passes for 1,870 yards, seven touchdowns, and ten interceptions. He has an NFL-high 12 fumbles and a 25.1 overall quarterback rating, which is the lowest among qualified quarterbacks in the league.
